Caring for Your Jewellery & Leather Goods - My Tips

Care of your jewellery
Your sterling silver jewellery can tarnish over time. This is perfectly normal due to chemical reactions that occur when silver is exposed to the air and other pollutants. You can however, delay this process and keep your jewellery shiny and clean very easily.

Your jewellery is presented inside a velvet pouch that is has anti tarnish properties and so storing it inside this when not in use will keep it shiny and clean
The easiest and loveliest way to keep your jewellery looking it’s best is to wear it!

Cleaning/polishing your silver items
The easiest way to clean your jewellery is with a silver polishing cloth, these have cleaning properties and also protect your silver from tarnishing for some time into the future. Silver dips can be useful to clean tarnished jewellery, but rinse and dry jewellery well after using the dip. Liquid silver polish can also be useful too.

Take care
Do be careful to avoid contact with products such as moisturiser, hairspray and perfumes and avoid wearing rings and bracelets/bangles whilst cleaning, cooking, gardening and swimming to avoid scratching and tarnishing.

When you aren’t wearing your jewellery be sure to store in in a closed container or your anti tarnish jewellery pouch to keep it as clean and shiny as can be.

Care of your leather goods
All my leather is Italian vegetable tanned, top grain leather. It is a natural product, tanned and preserved over months of being soaked in a liqour of the roots and bark of chestnut and oak trees. This is done in the centuries old pits of a family tannery in Tuscany. The leather is finished with natural oils and waxes to provide protection, shine and bring out the best features of the top grain.
As you use your leather item it will develop a pleasing, shiny patina and maybe darken slightly in colour. This is one of the best features of this type of leather.

Cleaning/Polishing your leather items
Leather benefits from regular polishing and nourishment. It will help to buff out slight scratches and keep your leather supple. It will also add a little weatherproofing protection to your item.
The best product to polish and feed your leather is a leather cream, a shoe cream, a carnauba cream or something similar. It is clear and will not change the appearance of the leather.
Apply it with a soft cloth following the product instructions and then buff with a soft cloth. Take care not to apply it to the suede side of the leather.

Take care
As leather is a natural product, take care to avoid getting your leather goods wet as it may stain the leather and colour from the leather could transfer onto lighter coloured fabrics.
